Bikes in Amsterdam are more that just means of transport. It's
part of a national mindset. Some parts of the old city were just
not designed for cars. Combine that with outrageous parking prices
and you get quite a reasonable argument to leave the car back
home.
Dutchmen ride bikes anywhere anytime whether it rains or
snows.
Dutch talent for engineering and invention has perfected some
new configurations in the evolution of bicycles.
The grocery bike! This modification is not limiteb with grocery
bags. Its truly amazing how much crap you could carry on a reguar
bike. Some skilled dutchmen are even able carrying light pieces of
furniture.
